What you need to know about heat pump hot water system servicing.
- All heat pump type hot water systems require a service once every 5 years. This is for your safety and to ensure the appliance continues to operate efficiently.
- The three components of your heat pump are plumbing, electrical and refrigeration. A separate licence is required to work on each component. Our hot water technicians have electric and plumbing qualifications. If it is a refrigeration fault we can arrange a refrigeration mechanic with hot water, heat pump experience for you.
- If your heat pump is beyond repair we can recommend and install a replacement heat pump for you.

What about the sacrificial anode in the storage tank?
We would only recommend this on heat pumps.
On normal storage type hot water systems in Canberra, it is not necessary to replace the sacrificial anode in glass lined steel tanks / vitreous enamel tanks. This is because we have less of an issue with corrosion as we do with expansion and contraction. We have found Vitreous enamel tanks that are 28 years old.
